Unlike Polypropylene, PET plastic is not designed for high fill temperatures and in order for them to be effective, a specific resin and process are required. A heat-set resin is used and then blown into a hot mold on a heat-set machine specifically set up for PET. This provides the heat resistance necessary so the bottle will not deform from the hot liquids being filled. Hot Fill PET Plastic bottles typically can be filled up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
